Stress incontinence happens when physical movement or activity (for example coughing, laughing, sneezing, running, heavy lifting) puts pressure (“stress”) on your bladder, causing you to leak urine.
Urge incontinence is when you have a sudden, intense urge to urinate followed by an involuntary loss of urine. In addition, you may feel the “urge” to urinate frequently, including throughout the night.
Mixed incontinence is a combination of stress, urge, or other types of incontinence.
